Deepika gets emotional on the last day shoot of ‘Love Aaj Kal’

Post her dream debut opposite the Shah Rukh Khan in Box Office hit ‘Om Shanti Om’, Deepika Padukone became the overnight cynosure of Bollywood. Just a few flicks old, Deepika is already making waves in B-town and is looked on as one of the most promising stars. Buzz has it that ‘Love Aaj Kal’ being her much-anticipated flick; Deepika is desperately waiting for its release.

News has it that Deepika Padukone recently got sentimental on the last day shooting of ‘Love Aaj Kal.’ The long legged actress became so fond of the junior crew that she took the production assistants, assistant directors and costume team for a surprise dinner party. With fifteen of them visiting a posh Delhi restaurant, known for its scrumptious Italian delicacies, Deepika and the crew-members had the terrace reserved for them.

Talking about the impromptu dinner party, Deepika said, “It was a very informal thing. All of us are of the similar age group and we got along splendidly while shooting.” Deepika maintained, “We had been together for so long during the shooting that we had become like a family. And the dinner was absolute fun. We spent the evening remembering the time we spent together, laughing at internal jokes and spilling secrets.”

Well, it seems Deepika is truly a magnanimous star sans starry airs!

Insecure Katrina Kaif needs a new home!

Katrina Kaif, who is currently staying at Waterfield Road in Bandra, is desperately looking for another house because of the lax security in her building.

Katrina was more than happy living alone in the house, which she had bought four years ago with her hard-earned money. But of late, she is scared because of the increase in the number of intruders barging into her house.

Katrina confirmed the news and said, “I don’t feel safe any more. I’m a free-spirited working girl and pretty confident about making my way through the concrete jungle. But when strangers reach your door, it’s time to worry because there’s just me and my faithful maid in the house.”

Now the actress wants to urgently move into a place with better security but it is no cakewalk considering her celebrity status. “I’ve looked at a number of places. But the minute they know it’s someone famous, they hike the price. I need to move into a place where I feel safer living alone. No matter what it costs,” said the actress.

She even got herself an additional maid with the intention of beefing up security, but even that didn’t work. “The new maid couldn’t get along with the first maid, so I had to ask her to leave,” added Katrina.

The actress is now looking forward to putting an end to her solitary residency once her sister Isabel joins her in Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. Katrina said, “But that is still some way off. Isabel is still learning acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute. She wants to do Broadway before doing Bollywood. Once she comes to Mumbai, I’ll be fine. Just the two of us in the house together will be fun. I don’t mind living alone except for security reasons.”

Akshay, Kareena and Stallone pack a punch!

If 2008 was the year of Ghajini, then Kambakkht Ishq — which opens today in 2,030 screens worldwide, is already being declared the biggest triumph of 2009 and promises to be Akshay Kumar’s and Kareena Kapoor’s day in the sun!

Sajid Nadiadwala’s romantic comedy for Eros International with stunts provided by Akshay, glam and sex appeal by Kareena and Hollywood actress Denise Richards, and action by the legendary actor Sylvester Stallone himself, is booked solid this weekend.

The film is Akshay’s biggest opening ever, bigger than Welcome and Singh Is Kinng and almost surpassing Ghajini’s initial opening. Certainly, the hysteria the film has generated before its release is bigger than that created by Ghajini. With Kambakkht Ishq, Akshay — who plays a swashbuckling stunt man for Hollywood and body double for Stallone, consolidates his position as Bollywood’s most bankable star. And Kareena, whose role as a surgeon and supermodel is done with panache, carries the film on her sexy shoulders and delivers a knockout performance to rival Jab We Met while proving she is Bollywood’s No. 1 actress.

At a power-packed special trial held on Wednesday night, the film industry sat rolling in the aisles as the funny antics unfolded on screen. Katrina Kaif, who has delivered hits with Akshay herself, was heard raving about how entertaining the film is. And Saif Ali Khan, who also saw the film, was in splits and said girlfriend Kareena looked like an international icon. His kids Sara and Ibrahim loved the film, too. As did Akshay’s son Aarav, who moved between mother Tina and grandma Dimple Kapadia during the trial, and then began calling his father Superman after looking at the stunts Akshay pulls off on screen.

Trade analyst Vikas Mohan believes the film will cross the Rs 100-crore mark. While Taran Adarsh, who thought Akshay had surpassed himself and delivered one of his best performances till date, said one couldn’t ask for more in Kambakkht Ishq. Bollywood’s other big trade analyst Amod Mehra added, “Just by looking at the promos, one can tell that it’s a right mix of rom-com that people would like to see, especially since nowadays films lack all this. It looks like a fun film and it’s opening has been gigantic.”

But, perhaps, the nicest thing about the film has been said by a man of few words and more action. Stallone, who regretted he could not be in Mumbai for the release of the film, said of Kambakkht Ishq, “It deals with a subject that I like which is about heart, it’s about giving, it’s about spirituality, it’s about physical manifestation of love... coz in the end, that’s really all that counts. There have been many action films where people are just beating each other up. But when it’s really about something soulful, I’m interested, and that’s what this film is about. It’s nice to be invited into your world.”

Hrithik's tribute to Michael Jackson

Hrithik Roshan seems to be in a sombre mood of late. The actor was busy shooting for an ad in Singapore when his dancing inspiration Michael Jackson passed away. Of course, the actor grieved deeply. Hrithik adored the King of Pop. And when we called him up, there was little he could say. “It’s unbelievable, it hasn’t yet sunk it!” he told us. “He was an inspiration to every entertainer. People wanted to become dancers just by watching Michael Jackson him perform. ‘Thriller’ was my absolute favourite, and still is... ”

Hrithik Roshan’s sister, Sunaina, shared with us, “Hrithik has been a die-hard fan of Michael Jackson since he was a child. Hrithik must be 8-9 years old when he used to imitate Jackson’s moonwalk. I remember the moment ‘Thriller’ used to play Hrithik used to be up doing a Michael Jackson. It was Michael Jackson’s music videos that introduced Hrithik to western dancing. Hrithik used to do a Michael Jackson whichever party he went to.”

But in showbiz... the ball keeps rolling, and the show must go on... “And Michael Jackson, too, will continue to live in every beat of music,” concludes Hrithik.

Michael Jackson to be buried on July 7

Fans will not be able to get inside venue

The last rites of pop legend Michael Jackson, who died following cardiac arrest last week, would be conducted in Los Angeles next Tuesday (July 7), according to thesun.co.uk.

The funeral will be held at Los Angeles' Staples Center, which is owned by AEG Live, the event management company behind the singer's comeback tour at London's O2 arena.

Proceedings of Jackson's funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

According to sources, AEG will put up gigantic screens outside the facility for the thousands of fans who will not be able to get inside to see the funeral proceedings.

MJ ‘Survived On One Meal A Day’

Anxious singer would often ‘forget to eat’

MICHAEL JACKSON was so worried about his looming comeback tour he often forgot to eat, according to the show's promoter.

The King Of Pop was booked to do 50 gigs at London's O2 arena, kicking off later this month and running into next year, and was in vigorous rehearsals for the spectacular shows before his death last week.

The show's director Kenny Ortega and AEG Live's boss Randy Phillips were keeping an eye on the star's food intake in the days leading up to his death - and they were shocked by how little Jackson was eating as he geared up for the mammoth run of gigs.

Phillips tells Britain's Daily Mirror, "He used to forget to eat because he was so focused and Kenny Ortega and I used to cut up his food and physically feed him."

But Phillips is adamant Jackson was fighting fit - despite his erratic eating habits.

He adds, "Frail, he certainly wasn't. He was always very thin but not to the point where he couldn't perform. He really kicked into high gear and was totally engaged in the last two weeks. Before that he was nervous and not really coming to rehearsals. But that was his schedule and that was how he wanted to do things.

"Michael did not have a gruelling schedule - he had Michael's schedule. He didn't need to rehearse that much. He was so talented that he didn't need to. When he started dancing, he was dancing better than the best 20 year old dancers in the world. He was that good."

Imran burnt his lashes, skin while shooting for 'Luck'

Except one, he’s done all the deadly stunts himself

From going underwater with sharks to jumping from a helicopter on to a burning train, Imran Khan has done it all in his forthcoming film "Luck" (pictured above). But he had his share of injuries for showing such daredevilry in the action flick.

"Shooting an action film can lead to plenty of injuries. A muscle pull, certain bruises are quite usual. In 'Luck', I sustained an injury while shooting the train scene. When the train was on fire, the flames went up a little too high and my eyelashes and the skin under my eyes got burnt," Imran told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Imran had to then cover up the burnt skin with an extra layer of make-up for two weeks while he let the eyelashes be as he feels "people don't tend to notice them often".

While his daredevilry in "Luck" has been the talk of the town lately, the young actor reveals he had to use a body double for an aerial stunt in the movie directed by Soham Shah.

"There was one scene in the film where I have a body double. It required me to jump with a parachute around 1,000-1,200 feet off a helicopter and I didn't know how to skydive. Though I did jump off the helicopter myself with a harness, the real stunt in the air has been performed by my body double," he said.

Apart from this particular scene, Imran has performed all the stunts in the action thriller himself with the assistance of popular stunt director Allan Amin.

The 26-year-old has even jumped off an airplane on to a train on fire and went underwater for a scene with deadly sharks.

"The film required a lot of action stunts, jumping, running, kicking, etc. I got to do a variety of stunts.

"There was an underwater sequence where we had to shoot with sharks and a cage. For that we were trained in scuba diving. Then there was another one where I had to jump on to a speeding train that was on fire and fight on the train - those were exciting," Imran said.

On the insistence of the director, Imran and other actors of the film, including Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty, Ravi Kissen and debutante Shruti Haasan, underwent a one-week theory and practical course in scuba diving in Durban, South Africa, he revealed.

"Soham was very particular about one thing - he wanted each of the actors to perform his or her stunts and so we trained in scuba diving for the underwater scene. It was a strenuous exercise. We used to spend six to eight hours in the water in the mornings, then go for theory classes and then back into the water.

"But it feels great to be a certified scuba diver now," said Imran, who had subscribed to a three-day beginner's course in scuba diving for his earlier film "Kidnap".

Despite the danger involved, Imran agreed to do the stunts on his own.

"Allan has a great fondness for me and he would want my inputs on it (the stunts) every time. While deciding upon a sequence, he would discuss it with me and ask me if I can do it or not and I would just say - 'Yeah, I can do this'. So in a way, we designed the stunts together," he said.

After "Luck", which will release on July 24, Imran will be seen in "Delhi Belly" and "Seven Days in Paris".
