Katrina Kaif is going to feature in a flick with Shahrukh Khan under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif flew from London to Mumbai and discussing his bitter experiences about his detention at Newark, United States Airport.

According to the sources, Katrina Kaif returned in the same flight with Shahrukh Khan.

They were sitting at a distance in the flight but after looking at Shahrukh Khan, Katrina moved to him and as a gentleman Shahrukh Khan offered his seat to Katrina. So, they started their chat and Shahrukh shared his bitter experience at US. Katrina came back to her seat only when the flight was about to land.

Now, savour the Shilpa Shetty curry & poppadoms Shilpa Shetty is learnt to be planning to launch her own brand of healthy curries and poppadoms.

The Bollywood actress had been planning to start a chain of curry houses in London for a long time but put the plan.

On the backburner after she and her beau Raj Kundra bought a stake in the IPL team, Rajasthan Royals.

But now, she’s learnt to be giving the idea another serious thought and has even finalized the names of some of the dishes.

For instance, the poppadom will be named ‘Shilpa Poppadom’ in the memory of the late reality TV star Jade Goody who was accused of racially abusing Shilpa.

On the British television show 'Celebrity Big Brother' in 2007. It was on this show that Jade disdainfully called her ‘Shilpa Poppadom’.

A source close to Shilpa tells a news agency: “Shilpa thinks Jade will have a little chuckle in heaven about the poppadoms. She has been inundated with requests for her curry recipe and one day she just thought, 'Why don't I just create my own range?”

Shilpa has already launched a Yoga DVD and a perfume range in UK since her win in the reality show two years back. “One of Shilpa's passions in life is healthy living so she wanted to incorporate that into her dishes,” the source added.

Mallika brunches with Yanni, Dylan! A source present at the brunch reveals that Mallika sat between studio film director Jesse Dylan (son of legendary musician Bob Dylan) and world famous music composer Yanni.

Overheard was discussion of Mallika's next few American film projects of which our source says Mr. Dylan seemed to be involved.

Mr. Dylan directed the Will Ferrell film "Kicking and Screaming" and "American Wedding" for Universal Studios, among others.

The shooting of Mani Ratnam's film Ravan, starring Aishwarya Rai, has hit a roadblock once again with the forest authorities in Maharashtra slapping cases against 14 members of the film's crew, charging them with trespassing on forest property.

His Norwegian background in the folklore of his people makes him able to identify the monster. There’s even a Rob Morrow like doctor played by David Lewis who is something of a wise city slicker as much out of place as Morrow was. The Wyvern really has a grisly plan for him, this creature is as intelligent as Stephen Spielberg’s raptors in Jurassic Park.

Guess what I heard the other day? Our Vivek boy who is busy making his presence felt everywhere these days landed up to meet his friend Duggu on the sets of Guzaarish at Mehboob studios. Hrithik as we know plays the lead opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the film.

A little birdie told me, Vivek seemed hesitant and before dropping by, made sure Ash wasn't around. Apparently Vivek was doing a photoshoot at Mehboob Studios for Kurbaan with Saif and Kareena. While packing up in the evening, he heard that his good friend Hrithik too was shooting in the same studio.

However, when Vivek learnt that Hrithik was shooting for Guzaarish, he contemplated whether he should pop in or not. Only when he confirmed that Aishwarya was not present on the sets, did he go to meet Hrithik.

Another feather has overloaded her cap by conferring this Bollywood star with an Honorary Citizenship and Official Resolution by the City of Los Angeles.

Mallika Sherawat received this prestigious honour in front of the members of entertainment industry, friends, family and fans during a ceremony at Los Angeles City Hall in an event of 15th August Indian Independence Day.

In the City Hall Council Chambers, the council member Jose Huizar presented this honour to Mallika Sherawat. Mallika accepted the Resolution, which was signed by the Mayor and all City Council members, before giving an inspiring speech with the huge round of applause throughout the hall.

During the speech of thanksgiving and acceptance, the actress became emotional and said that she is deeply, and humbly, grateful for this grand honour, in addition to thanking the council member Huizar,

Mayor Villaragosa, Mayor Riordan, and all the City Council.

Mallika Sherawat also mentioned, "As the first Indian Bollywood actor to receive this recognition, I proudly accept it in honour of my home country, mother India, and my beloved Bollywood, the world's largest film industry." She concluded the speech saying that she is deeply touched, and eternally thankful for this acknowledgment.

After SRK, Deepika desires Sallu Deepika Padukone might have kick-started her Bollywood career with Shah Rukh Khan and since then is known to be part of his inner circle, but she claims she is more than open to branch out and work with King Khan's arch enemy Salman Khan.

"I'm so new in the industry and I have been very lucky to have got the opportunity to work with the biggest names in the industry.

I have worked with SRK, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan and now I would like to work with Salman," says Deepika, who is currently basking in the success of Love Aaj Kal.

She adds, "I feel Salman is a very honest person. He is genuine about what he feels and what I have read and known about him, he seems to be very caring."

Deepika admires AamirKhan too. "He has been extremely selective and it has worked so amazingly for him. I don't know whether he does it purposely or things turn out to be like that but he is a perfectionist."

Deepika might be game to talk about Sallu but she is not cool when it comes to talking about his girlfriend Katrina Kaif with whom she's been apparently sharing bad vibes. It's been reported that Deepika didn't approve of beau Ranbir Kapoor and Kat's growing bond on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and that she is responsible for the duo being no longer on talking terms.

"I wouldn't want to comment on Katrina," was her short and snappy reply when quizzed. But was her relationship shaky when rumours about Kat were on the rise? "Ranbir and I trust each other and we are going well. I realise that when there is no movie releasing people focus on other things and that people will even talk about personal things. All this used to affect me a lot before, it doesn't anymore."

Post their box-office bomb Chandni Chowk to China, ironically Deepika is now teaming up with Akshay Kumar for a comedy called Housefull. "I love the passion and drive that Akshay has. With him around, you get to learn a lot on the sets. I know our first film together didn't work out but there's nothing called an unlucky jodi," she says

There have been widespread media reports in last few days about Abhishek Bachchan being the next in line to tattoo his super star actress wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name on his forearm. It was also reported that Abhishek who is presently shooting down South for his Mani Ratnam film Ravana has taken an appointment with the same tattoo artist who did the tattoo for Hrithik Roshan of wife Suzzanne.

Reports attributed to “sources close to Abhishek’ further claimed that he wanted to surprise Aishwarya with the tattoo.But we have managed to get official confirmation from Abhishek Bachchan’s spokesperson that these reports floating around are nothing but plain rumours. We were further told that Abhishek is presently shooting for Ravana near Ooty and has not taken any appointment from any tattoo artist and has no such plans either.

The tattoo trend of imbibing one’s partner’s name on one’s most visible part of the body- the forearm had begun with Saif Ali Khan getting the ‘Kareena’ tattoo done. Akshay Kumar too has been sporting his son’s Aarav’s name on his back.

The forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), starting Sep 10, will have a strong Indian presence — while two mainstream Bollywood films “Dil Bole Hadippa” and “What’s Your Rashee?” will have their world premieres, Dilip Mehta’s “Cooking With Stella” has been selected for a screening in the prestigious Gala section.

Jon Amiel’s “Creation”, a bio-pic on Charles Darwin, is also being premiered in the same section where Dilip’s film is being screened and he says he is thrilled by the honour.

“The Toronto International Film Festival is, after Cannes, undoubtedly the most significant festival worldwide. To have one’s film participate in it is glory enough, but to have a gala screening and a world premiere is mind-blowing,” Dilip, brother of Canada-based Indian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, told IANS.

“For me, as first-time feature director this was such a tremendous high to have our film in the company of such an amazing film. ‘Creation’ nipped us all in the post but we were right up there. TIFF selected ‘Cooking With Stella’ for a gala screening for our world premiere on September 16th.

“The numbers are daunting. Approximately 3,000 plus films are submitted for the festival. Of these about 350 are selected of which 15 or so have the distinction of a gala screening at the amazing Roy Thomson Hall,” he added.

This was the very section where Deepa’s elegiac “Water” that had Lisa Ray, John Abraham and Seema Biswas in lead roles had been premiered. While “Water” focussed on the difficult lives of widows in the 1930s, Dilip’s film is in a different mood space.

“For 34 years, I have covered death, misfortune, war, plagues and other human tragedies for Time, Newsweek, National Geographic and other such major journals. I entered the world of cinema with ‘The Forgotten Woman’, a hard documentary to portray the reality of the widows of India.

“Similarly ‘Cooking With Stella’ also looks at a classic Indian tragedy, that of servants and employers but without wanting to give a lecture on morality.”

While filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Raashee?” stars Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja, “Dil Bole Hadippa” is Anurag Singh’s directorial debut. Produced by Yash Raj Films, it stars Rani Mukerji and Shahid Kapoor. Both the films are female-centric.

Filmmaker Karan Johar dismisses reports that his deal with Fox Star Studios for his forthcoming Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol-starrer is worth $20 million. He says the deal is not about the money but an attempt to expand the reach of Hindi-language cinema with “My Name Is Khan”.

“Let me tell you the amount mentioned is nowhere near being a realistic one. The deal among Star Fox Studios, my company (Dharma Productions) and Red Chillies is an internal matter and can’t be discussed in public. What makes this deal so historic is not the money involved but the attempt to cross the diaspora with a Hindi-language film,” Karan told IANS.

He also rubbished reports that Fox is trying to give the Islamic world a positive image in the West by buying “My Name Is Khan”.

“It’s not the politics of the film. It’s when the film moves you on a human and emotional level that matters. ‘My Name Is Khan’ endeavours to do just that. I don’t think Fox was swayed by the positive message. It’s the human aspect that won them over,” he said.

Excerpts from the interview to IANS:

Q: You’ve inked a deal with 20th Century Fox for an astronomical never-heard-of amount of money?

A: Let me tell you the amount mentioned is nowhere near being a realistic one. The deal among Star Fox Studios, my company and Red Chillies is an internal matter and can’t be discussed in public. What makes this deal so historic is not the money involved but the attempt to cross the diaspora with a Hindi-language film “My Name Is Khan”. We’ll reach out in places where Hindi-language films have not gone before.

Q: Why Fox Studios?

A: The Fox guys read the script and have followed the project. They’re close enough to it to know what it’s all about. I’ve shared a comfort zone with them from day one. Both Shah Rukh and I believe they are the best people to handle “My Name Is Khan”. They have faith in our brand power and content creation. It’s not about money. It’s all about mutual respect.

Q: Is Fox trying to give the Islamic world a positive image in the West by buying a film about Islamic isolation and the western world?

A: It’s not the politics of the film. It’s when the film moves you on a human and emotional level that matters. “My Name Is Khan” endeavours to do just that. I don’t think Fox was swayed by the positive message. It’s the human aspect that won them over. I believe in the emotional content of both my cinema and personal relationships. Look at the longevity of the association between my company Dharma Productions and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies and you’ll see what I mean.

Q: You are adapting Fox’s “Stepmom”. Will there be more such adaptations of American films produced by Fox?

A: I’d always want to direct original content. But there are young filmmakers in my company who are excited by the idea of adapting films. Siddharth Malhotra, for example, is doing a Hindi version of “Stepmom” for our company. He’s working really hard on it. An adaptation is as difficult as an original film. And Siddharth is working really hard on it.

Q: What is the final cast of “Stepmom”?

A: It’s Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

Mumbai, He is a law abiding citizen, believes in the saying “jaisa desh waisa vesh” (When in Rome, do as the Romans do) and strictly follows the rules of the country he is visiting, but Shah Rukh Khan Tuesday said that his experience at the Newark airport’s immigration counter in the US was “embarrassing”.

“I am scared of the authorities and rules so I try to follow the rules of the country I travel to. Whenever I am in America, I have to report at least two hours in advance while travelling within the country for security reasons — they ask me to take off my clothes and shoes, and I do that. But I never experienced this kind of treatment,” Shah Rukh told reporters on his arrival here four days after he was detained for two hours at the Newark airport.

“There are some routine security measures – they check your finger prints and scan your retina. But the routine security process was not followed. Instead, the authorities asked me bizarre and irrelevant questions. I am not trying to make a point here, but why were security measures not followed?” he asked.

“The security of any country is important but caste, religion or race shouldn’t come in the way of security measures. You may call me a mega star, a celebrity, but basically I’m just a normal guy. But I’m lucky that I have access to friends in the (Indian) consulate whom I could call up. But there are hundreds of others who dont have this facility,” Shah Rukh pointed out.

Shah Rukh also denied that the detention drama was a publicity stunt for his forthcoming movie “My Name Is Khan”. He said: “I don’t think that I need publicity.”

To Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh’s allegation that he had blown the matter out of proportion to publicise his forthcoming film Shah Rukh retorted with a tongue-in-cheek reply: “Amar Singh is unwell, and I pray that he recovers soon with a healthy body and strong mind.”

Commenting on Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni advocating a tit-for-tat policy with the US after Shah Rukh’s detention drama, the actor said that her comments indicated that the government is looking into the larger problem.

Shah Rukh, know for his humour, also said: “If you want to give a tit-for-tat policy to American actors, then call me to frisk Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox whenever they are visiting India.”

Bollywood stars angry over Khan incident

Bollywood stars have spoken out to express their support for Shah Rukh Khan after he was detained by US authorities because his surname was on a list of common terrorist names.The actor had flown to the US to celebrate Indian Independence Day alongside other Bollywood names such as Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor. Director Karan Johar, who is helming Khan’s forthcoming feature My Name Is Khan, said that he was shocked.What I feel that what happened today [Saturday] is very unfortunate and we need to know why did that happen to him, because I think there is no reason that he had to go through all that.

When asked about the similiarities between the security incident and the premise of his new film, Johar added: “Sometimes it is just bizarre and strange. No one can think that real and reel life can sometime go this parallel. Priyanka Chopra tweeted from her Twitter account: “Shocking, disturbing and downright disgraceful. It’s such behaviour that fuels hatred and racism. SRK’s a world figure for God’s sake. GET REAL!!
